Cannabis Law, Intellectual Property Law
This session will provide an overview of intellectual property protection and related issues for cannabis and hemp businesses, including the nuances that exist in this area given current federal and state law. Trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets will be discussed. In addition, attendees will learn about rules, concerns and hot topics related to marketing in the cannabis and hemp industries, including advertising and branding restrictions, licensing requirements for “white labeling,” and a brief overview of California’s new appellation of origin protection for cannabis. Recent developments will be covered, as well as a historical perspective.
