This video covers 1.5 units of training required by California Rules of Court, Rule 5.242 for continuing (total of 8 units required) and new Minors Counsel (12 units). Discussion Includes: Authority for Appointment (FC3150, Rules of Court 5.240); Duties and Rights of Counsel (FC 3151, Rules of Court 5.242); Compensation of Counsel (FC3153, Rules of Court 5.241); Qualifications of Counsel (Rules of Court 5.242); Child's Participation in Proceedings (Rules of Court 5.250)

This program has been approved for participatory credit in 1.5 units Family Law Specialization Credit (Custody of children, including advice of re-evaluation and custody mediation and litigation skills pertaining to expert and percipient witness) and 1.5 units MCLE credit in General Law.

Commissioner Bayles-Fightmaster (she/her pronouns) served as Sonoma County’s family law facilitator and then the child support commissioner from 1997 until her retirement in 2016. Commissioner Bayles-Fightmaster is a certified family law specialist and practiced both family law and estate planning attorney for 15 years prior to working at the Court.
